Grid Art

I never set out to invent an art style — I was just a kid with glitter gel pens, a stack of blank notecards… and a mind and hands that refused to stay on the same page.

More than 20 years later, those tiny experiments have evolved into large-scale works that combine intricate grids, bold color and optical effects. Every piece is hand drawn and designed to reward a second (and third) look.

Parade of Hearts | “Love in All Colors”

Created for the premiere year of Kansas City’s Parade of Hearts city-wide exhibition, Love in All Colors celebrates the beauty found in diversity, individuality and human connection. Drawing on the colors of the Pride Progress flag, this heart was dedicated to everyone who has struggled with being true to their identity, particularly throughout the tumultuous COVID era. It is meant to convey one simple message: In KC, you are loved, exactly as you are.

Rendering of a heart sculpture with the letters KC and grid-like coloring based on the Pride Progress flag (rainbow + brown, black light blue, light pink and white) colors.
